Steven McGarvie has been named as the new managing director of commercial ovens supplier Unox UK.
He is to start at the company on 7 January 2026, succeeding Scott Duncan who stepped down in September after four years in the leadership position. Duncan has since become the MD of catering equipment provider Hobart UK.
McGarvie brings with him extensive experience in the foodservice equipment sector, having most recently served as UK sales & marketing director at Victor Manufacturing Limited. Over the past five years, he oversaw major contracts and projects across the UK, earning a strong reputation for driving commercial growth and operational excellence.
He previously spent just over two years at Foster Refrigeration as regional business manager, following an eight-year stint back at Victor Manufacturing Limited as contracts manager and more than four years at Bidfood as a business manager.
In his new role at Unox UK, McGarvie will build on the company’s ambition to expand its presence across the nation’s hospitality and foodservice sectors, whilst focussing on key sales, operations, marketing and customer engagement with the team.
“I’m really thrilled to be joining Unox UK at such an exciting time,” commented McGarvie. “The focus on new product development, quality, innovation, and great customer service is genuinely impressive, and it’s clear the company invests just as much in its people as it does in its equipment.
“I’m looking forward to working with the team, building on what already makes us great, driving growth, and continuing to deliver real value for our customers,” he added.
Nicola Michelon, CEO of Italy-based parent company Unox S.p.A., extended a warm welcome to McGarvie. “His proven track-record, deep sector knowledge and strategic vision make him the ideal leader for Unox UK as we continue to strengthen our footprint and service offering in the UK market,” she said, noting it was one of the key markets for the business.
Founded in 1990, Unox has grown steadily year on year to achieve consolidated revenues of €330m (£288m) in 2024. It is headquartered in the town of Cadoneghe near Padua and operates directly in 44 countries with products distributed in more than 110 nations – more than 800 of its 1,422 employees work outside of Italy.
In August, Unox UK revealed the hiring of Thomas Bentham and Hrudhvi Anand as corporate chefs, who are tasked at providing demonstrations to customers of how the equipment can modernise how a kitchen operates. In October, the company launched a new dual-chamber combi oven known as Bakertop Retail which integrates a suite of technologies.
