Yorkshire-based ingredients supplier manufacturer Pecan Deluxe Candy (Europe) is to launch a range of Fairtrade chocolates.

Pecan Deluxe’s MD Allan Dew said: "The introduction of Fairtrade products will encourage new customer acquisition and allow for greater product diversi-fication for the company."

With more than 2,000 Fair- trade products already on the UK market, the Leeds-based company, which specialises in food ingredients, hopes that the move will boost its presence in the confectionery, cake and biscuit pro-duct sectors.

The range will come in white, milk and dark variants. Dew said the launch would help promote better labour conditions and wages in the developing world.
