Lantmännen deal
Lantmännen Unibake UK, which operates a bakery with seven bakery lines, has signed a temperature-controlled warehousing contract with Norbert Dentressangle. The third-party logistics company will provide a daily collection service from its manufacturing site in Milton Keynes, as well as supplying 15,000 pallet spaces in its cold store in Easton, Lincolnshire.
Costa bucks crisis
Costa Coffee is defying the recession, with sales up 18.4% compared to the same period last year. Like-for-like sales increased 2.7% as parent company Whitbread announced its latest figures for the 24 weeks to 13 August 2009. "Costa’s trading has been well ahead of expectations," said Whitbread, which added that it remained focused on cost control.
Mr Kipling connects
Premier Foods is attempting to reconnect its Mr Kipling cake range with younger consumers via a series of new product launches. The first of these is Inspirations a new range of small cakes in seasonal flavours. Further NPD is expected in 2010.
Vinnie, vidi, vici
Fox’s Vinnie the Panda marketing campaign has attracted three million households to the brand, according to AC Nielsen Homescan’s 8-week figures to w/e 11 July 2009. Since the campaign launch last year, Fox’s sales have increased by £2m, making it the brand’s most successful campaign to date.
Dawn investment
Dawn Foods has invested £750,000 revamping its Evesham production site, not £75,000 as incorrectly stated in a headline in British Baker’s 28 August issue.
