Ingredients supplier Petrow Food Group has invested £100,000 in a new Auger powder fill machine for dry mixes at its site in Perivale, London.
The Auger packing machine, with vertical form fill & seal, dispenses dry mixes such as those for cake.
It has been designed specifically to overcome waste in dry-fill packaging, such as the build-up of powders on weigh pans. It will deliver improved speed and capacity that prevents product getting stuck in sealing elements, resulting in efficiency gains that can be passed on to clients, claimed the manufacturer.
Petrow said the investment would offer improved packaging of dry mixes and powered products at a competitive price.
“The new Auger line gives more certainty when a specific weighted quantity of powders is to be dispensed, and can operate faster and more consistently, with lower costs and packaging savings, compared to multi-head weighing options used for the filling of dry granular mixes,” said Petrow managing director Ian Tatchell.
“The net result is Petrow Food Group will be able to offer more competitive prices and better, more flexible packing solutions for both powders and dry mixes. The latest investment in the Auger packing machine will ensure Petrow can embark on a new phase in its business.”
The company added that the new line would bring added value to its existing two dry-mix filling lines, including its Ishida multi-head weigher.
