Premium frozen bakery specialist Bridor is set to buy Spanish manufacturer Panamar Bakery Group for an undisclosed fee.
The addition of the Valencia-based, family-run business – which supplies frozen bread, viennoiserie, and pâtisserie products to over 20 countries including the UK – marks the largest acquisition to date for Bridor and its owner Le Duff Group. The strategic move is said to allow Bridor to strengthen its global industrial and logistics capacity in the 100 countries in which it operates.
Panamar employs more than 2,600 employees at 10 production sites in Spain, making products under its Panamar, Cobopa, Pacfren, and Panusa brands which are supplied frozen via wholesale distributors to retail, hotel, and catering customers.
The completion of the transaction is subject to the usual regulatory conditions, Bridor noted.
“We are embarking on this new chapter with confidence,” commented Isabel Martinez, president of Panamar Bakery Group. “The entrepreneurial spirit and family values that drive us form a common foundation that Le Duff Group and Bridor will continue to nurture.”
Bridor CEO Philippe Morin said the Panamar acquisition “enables Bridor to take another decisive step forward by becoming a global leader in bakery and Viennese pastry products and a major player in the Iberian Peninsula”.
Bridor’s turnover has increased from €750m (£649m) in 2021 to €2.5bn in its most recent financial year. It has acquired numerous businesses over the years, among them Portuguese firm Panidor in 2022, Dutch sourdough specialist Pandriks in 2024, and Australia/New Zealand-based Laurent Bakery in 2025. It expanded its bakery site in China last year and also constructed new plants in France and Switzerland, as well as building a new factory in Utah this year with plans to build another in Texas in 2028.
All these investments are expected to help Bridor double its turnover by 2031.
In addition, Panamar’s current annual sales total of €600m (£519m) puts Le Duff on a path towards a targetted €3.5bn turnover across its various subsidiaries, which also include ready meals manufacturer Gourming, catering chains Brioche Dorée, Del Arte, and La Madeleine, as well as other franchises and property.
