Handmade macarons supplier Hilton Macarons has been acquired by fellow East Anglian business Two Magpies.

Hilton Macarons, which is the trading name of Love A Taste Limited, was founded by James Hilton and Andrea O’Keeffe, who developed the recipes and launched the brand in 2019.

It produces a range of macarons, which are all gluten-free and vegetarian, from premises in Suffolk. Flavours in the line-up include lemon, salted caramel, lime & mint, blackcurrant, orange chocolate, cherry, and hazelnut

Hilton said he was delighted the business would be joining the Two Magpies family and remain in East Anglia.

“We have a solid wholesale business and a loyal online customer base, and we are very excited by the enhanced growth prospects for Hilton Macarons given Two Magpies’ significant high street presence across East Anglia and access to the resources of a larger group,” he said.

Founded in 2013, Two Magpies operates eleven bakery and café sites across Suffolk and Norfolk, and has a bake school and an 11,000 sq ft central bakery in Walpole. It this year claimed the first-ever Britain’s Best Cake title with a salted caramel & almond brownie.

Two Magpies CEO Steve Magnall said the acquisition would open up new markets for the business and increase its presence in the gluten-free sweet market.

“Hilton Macarons is without a doubt one of the best in this space and a perfect fit for us,” he added. “We are pleased to have agreed the purchase and look forward to growing the brand alongside the Two Magpies brand.”

Two Magpies operations director Yasmin Wyatt will be leading the integration of Hilton Macarons into the business.

“We look forward to having Hilton Macarons as a sister business to ours,” she said.
