Australian sandwich concept Make Your Own (MYO) is looking to re-enter the UK market, according to its CEO.
Speaking to British Baker, Greg Young said the business, founded in 1994, was yet to confirm a precise location, but was looking at London and the south of England.
Although choosing to focus on its Australian business this year, Young added the company could expand into the UK before 2015 if a suitable location was found.
In its first year, MYO will look to open between five and 10 franchisees, with a corporate store for training.
There are currently two MYO outlets in Scotland and Ireland, which are not part of the franchise, due to business conflicts with the company’s previous master-franchisee.
Under the MYO concept, consumers can choose their own fillings from 72 options for their sandwich, wrap or roll. A coffee offering will also be available.
The business also offers pizza, pre-prepared salads, soups and hot meals.
However, Young said the business would aim to model itself on Pret A Manger [in terms of business success], with pre-packed sandwiches also being considered for the UK.
