foodforecast is an AI-powered demand and production forecasting platform built for ultra-fresh food, serving bakeries, food service operators and supermarkets. Founded in Cologne, Germany, by Justus Lauten, founder, and Jan Brormann, co-founder, the company has been developing its technology since 2019 — built alongside bakeries, for bakeries, with real operators shaping the product from day one.

Commercially launched in 2022, foodforecast is now deployed in more than 5,000 locations across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, and works with large operators including SSP Germany. 

Backed by an €8m Series A round closed in February 2026, foodforecast is now expanding into the UK to help operators cut waste, lift sales, and run smarter ultra-fresh operations — having already saved more than 8,800 tonnes of food waste across its existing network.
