Liverpool-based New Britain Oils has increased its bakery fats production capacity by 30% to cope with increasing demand for traceable, segregated palm-based products.
The UK’s leading producer of sustainable palm oil products, New Britain Oils attributed the increased demand to changes in EU food labelling laws and the concern of UK retailers to hit their 2015 sustainability targets.
Adam Thomas, general manager of New Britain Oils, said: “There’s no doubt that demand from retailers and consumers for products containing certified sustainable Palm Oil has been a major contributor to our business growth. This is no more so than in the bakery sector where we have seen the biggest growth in demand over the past 12 months.”
The company was founded five years ago and now employs over 70 staff.
