Crewe-based Wrights Food Group has introduced a new Meatball Marinara Lattice to its food-to-go range.
The product is filled with meatballs and melted Gruyère cheese with a rich tomato sauce and encased in puff pastry.
Sue Gwilliam, head of new food development, said: “Eating habits have changed to cater with the culture shift and we’ve looked to fill this gap in the market by developing a product which offers home-style cooking and can be consumed on the move.
“Our Meatball Marinara Lattice was taste-tested by our new product development team in our dedicated food innovation suite to ensure it exceeded customer expectations.
“The recipe was developed using quality beef and authentic Italian herbs. We also added pockets of melted cheese to give the rich tomato sauce a savoury kick.”
Wrights’ current range of slices include: chicken and mushroom; chicken and ham; steak; peppered steak; and a burger bar. Meat-free alternatives include: creamy vegetable and cheese and onion.
Currently sold to foodservice outlets throughout England and Wales, Wrights customers also include independent convenience stores, quick service restaurants, coffee shops and independent bakery shops supplied with frozen unbaked, part-baked and finished products through a network of national wholesale distributors.
The Meatball Marinara Slice is also available across Wrights’ retail outlets located throughout Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe.
