Launceston pie-maker Grumpies of Cornwall has launched a new range of six savoury Cornish pies.

Available from selected Cornish farm stores, delis and online at www.foodfromcornwall.co.uk, the pies have a home-cooked feel. The range includes four meat varieties such as steak and ale; lamb, mint and potato; chicken, gammon and leek; and pork, apple and cider.

Vegetarian options include: an open-topped Homity pie with potato, mature cheddar cheese, parsley, leek, onion and garlic; and a blue cheese, mushroom and walnut pie, with tangy lemon and a béchamel sauce.

Mark Carne, co-founder of Grumpies of Cornwall, who trialled the range at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show with business partner Trevor Shea, said: "We booked a stand and took a selection of pies down there in order to gain feedback. Four hours later, they were all gone."

The pair launch Grumpies of Cornwall this January to complement their existing business Cornish Patisserie, which supplies cakes, gateaux and desserts to UK hospitality venues.
