Prima Bakeries unveils premium filled doughnut range

Cornish wholesale bakery Prima Bakeries has launched a range of premium filled doughnuts.

The new products will be available in the manufacturer’ Scorrier-based shop and to wholesale, retail and foodservice clients.

“We have been aware of the growing trend in doughnuts for some time and, after a visit to a London trade show, we decided to up our doughnut game. We hope the range will offer something to entice everyone,” said Prima sales and marketing head Paul Brockett.

The line-up comprises:

  • Strawberry-Sprinkle: coated in strawberry icing, topped with multi-coloured sprinkles and filled with a strawberry jam.
  • Cinn-Apple: coated in crunchy cinnamon sugar and filled with apple sauce.
  • Triple-Choc: with cocoa topping and sprinkles and cream filling with chocolate.
  • Caramel-Lace: coated in vanilla icing and drizzled in caramel sauce. The centre is filled with a caramel sauce.

Established in 1978 as a pizza base manufacturer, Prima now produces lines including Cornish pasties, saffron cakes, Hevva buns, scones, quiches, paninis and triple-choc brownies. It operates a wholesale delivery service throughout Cornwall with a retail range for shops and convenience stores and a foodservice range for cafés, restaurants and hotels.

“We have lots of exciting plans for the coming year in terms of innovation and will be announcing more new products in the coming months,” added Brockett.
