Award-winning bakery Lovingly Artisan has launched a partnership with the Booths supermarket chain.
Thirteen Lovingly Artisan products, including white and brown sourdough and ryes, have gone on sale on the newly refurbished bakery counter at the Booths store in Kendal.
‘’It’s a real pleasure for us to be working with Booths and we hope to continue to build on that relationship going forward, as we share our passion for provenance and creating authentic healthy sourdough breads with their customers at the Kendal store,” said Lovingly Artisan co-owner Aidan Monks, a former Baking Industry Awards Baker of the Year.
Founded in 2010, Lovingly Artisan is based in Kendal and specialises in hand-crafted slow fermented breads, made using a 30-year-old sourdough starter and all-natural ingredients. It sells bread through its shop, online, and at local markets.
The business has won a raft of awards for its loaves, and this year took home the award for Speciality Bread Product of the Year at the Baking Industry Awards with its Malted Barley Sourdough Tin. The loaf combines wheat flour, barley, rye, semolina wheat and salt, and is produced using a four-day process that includes cooking the barley into a porridge that is incorporated during the folding and stretching of the dough.
Booths is a family owned and operated independent supermarket with stores across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. It describes itself as committed to sourcing products locally and seasonally from the counties it operates in.
“I am delighted to be able to forge a relationship with the team at Lovingly Artisan and offer their extraordinary breads to the customers of Booths Kendal,” said Booths buyer Keith Parkinson.
“The passion of the team comes through in every loaf that leaves the bakery and I believe we are bringing something exceptional to our customers. Placing bread at the centre of the table as an integral part of the meal is a mission that I am pleased to help Lovingly Artisan with.”
Monks and Lovingly Artisan co-owner Catherine Connor will be running a Meet the Baker event at the Booths store next year to teach customers about sourdough.
