Sourdough pizza brand Pizza Punks has announced it will add to its portfolio of restaurants with a new opening in Leicester in March 2022.
Based in the Highcross area of the city, the new branch will join Pizza Punks’ other UK restaurants in Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle and Leeds.
The chain uses handcrafted San Francisco-style pizza dough that’s proofed for 48 hours and finished with San Marzano tomato, basil and garlic sauce and mozzarella before house toppings are added. The pizza is then cooked in wood-fired ovens with the aim of creating a think, crispy base with a chewy thick crust.
The restaurant offers 35 unlimited toppings for customers to choose from and the Leicester restaurant will offer Halal, vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian options. Craft beer, in-house cocktails and pasta will complement the pizza offering.
“Pizza Punks Leicester will be our fifth site in the UK, and we can’t wait to share the Pizza Punks experience with the city,” said Brad Stevens, Pizza Punks founder.
“At Pizza Punks we do things differently, and our customers have the freedom to make the experience their own – they can punk up their pizza or pasta with unlimited toppings for no extra charge,” he added.
The 120-cover restaurant in Leicester will feature a “stripped-back aesthetic” with neon lights, monochrome brick tiles and artwork, the company said.
