Regal Foods has funded upgrades to the kitchen facilities at Bradford College, supporting development of aspiring young bakers and chefs.
The investment from Bradford-based manufacturer has enabled the launch a brand-new Level 3 Professional Cooking, Patisserie, and Confectionery course, as well as the expansion of Level 2 hospitality modules.
These courses offer students a comprehensive pathway into the culinary world, noted Regal Foods, delivering training across all aspects of professional cooking including breads, doughs, pastries, and both hot and cold desserts.
Among the new equipment installed at the existing kitchens of Bradford College are commercial induction hobs, baking tins, cookware, and high-performance fridges and freezers. Students are therefore able to gain hands-on experience with the same tools found in professional kitchens, helping to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations.
“Building on our ongoing partnership with Bradford College, we are thrilled to expand the opportunities available to students,” commented Faz Ali, sales & marketing director of Regal Food Products Group. “By enhancing the curriculum and providing access to modern, professional equipment, we hope to inspire the next generation of chefs and bakers to reach their full potential.”
Regal Foods first partnered with the college in October 2023 to deliver a series of bakery-focused workshops throughout the academic year. These focused on several areas including cake decorating, baking, and product development – all from an industry point of view. Just last Friday (24 November), Regal Foods NPD manager Mary Earle conducted a specialist cheesecake masterclass in the newly upgraded kitchen.
Janice Flude, chef lecturer at Bradford College, highlighted how such collaborations lets new perspectives and ideas to develop and enhances the department’s curriculum offer. “This allows our learners to grow and have a greater chance of successful employment within the hospitality industry,” she said. “I believe Regal and the college are developing a strong partnership with mutual understanding form both sides creating great values for the future.”
Regal Foods produces a portfolio of over 380 items – like its new Baklawa range – under brands including Regal Foods, Yorkshire Baking Company, and Just Desserts Yorkshire, which are distributed to over 3,000 retail outlets across the UK and exported to more than 40 countries worldwide. The company was a finalist in the Bakery Manufacturer of the Year category at the Baking Industry Awards 2025.
