Specialist business Burtree Puddings has picked up 2016 Great Taste Awards for several of its products.

The firm, based near Darlington, County Durham, won two stars for its Sticky Toffee Pudding and Sticky Toffee Sauce and its Golden Syrup Pudding and Sticky Syrup Sauce, while its Rich Chocolate Pudding and Belgium Chocolate Sauce collected a one-star award.

These latest accolades bring the total number of Great Taste Awards won by the pudding firm to 31.

Lea Darling, partner at Burtree Puddings, said the company was extremely pleased. “It means we are not prepared to sit on our laurels and accept the awards we have already won for our puddings, but are constantly reaffirming that we produce truly scrumptious puddings,” she said.

“We’re proud of the fact that every one of our puddings has won a Great Taste Award, as it reiterates our dedication to making exceptional products.”

The bakery uses free-range eggs, milk, butter and cream from neighbouring farms to make the puddings, which are baked in small batches by hand.

This year 10,000 products were entered into the Great Taste Awards with only 35% of entries awarded an accolade.

Burtree Puddings’ Sticky Toffee Pudding has previously been crowned the GTA Supreme Champion.
