Wrights Food Group has installed a £1.2m pie production line, which it says will double its pie production capacity.
Installed at the company’s Crewe plant, the line replaces an older facility and is able to fill pies with two different types of filling thanks to a double depositor, allowing the company to produce a more varied range of products. It also has the capacity to produce suet puddings thanks to an extra 50ml depth capacity.
The new Rademaker line will complement an existing line with which it shares the same flexible set of 14 different tooling sizes and shapes.
Neville Carruthers, operations director at Wrights, said: “We are continuing to invest in our Crewe production facility and the installation of this new improved line underlines our commitment to providing customers with a wide choice of quality products that can be tailored to their individual specifications.”
Wrights Food Group provides fresh, frozen and ambient baked and unbaked products to a wide range of retail customers, including supermarkets, independent bakers and pubs, as well as running 17 stores in Staffordshire. It currently produces 150 million savoury products per year and has invested £10m in its Crewe production and distribution facility over the past five years.
