Linda Hill, owner of Murrays Bakers of Perth and World Scotch Pie Champion 2015, is to take a high-profile role in Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight (SFDF), which runs from 3-18 September.
Hill gained recognition in the baking industry for being crowned the World Scotch Pie Champion last year.
Speaking to British Baker, Hill said: “SFDF all about promoting the produce and getting everybody seeing how good the food and drink is in Scotland. I think people forget what’s on their doorstep sometimes. It’s all about the freshness and our availability in our products by using local ingredients.”
More than 200 events are taking place around the country over the fortnight, in addition to promotions and sampling events across retailers of all sizes.
Murrays Bakers of Perth celebrated its 115th anniversary this year and Hill’s great grandfather founded the company. It has an on-site bakery and have an average of around 800 customers a day.
