Manchester-based Slattery Patissier & Chocolatier has teamed up with Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery to launch a limited-edition doughnut.
The Chocoholic Choice doughnut (rsp: £2.50) comprises a Slattery chocolate mousse filling, chocolate fudge, white chocolate ganache drizzle and edible sugar pearls, as well as a Slattery milk chocolate disk.
The doughnut will be available until early July from Greenhalgh’s stores and via its website, as well as Slattery stores, which are set to reopen tomorrow (16 June).
“We were approached by Greenhalgh’s for the collaboration of the Chocoholic Choice doughnut. We are both are long-standing, local, family-run businesses, and it seemed natural to bring our expertise together – they made the doughnuts and we supplied the chocolate,” said Jo Naven, manager at Slattery.
“The doughnuts were due to be launched at Easter, but unfortunately Covid-19 put a halt to that. We felt that people needed cheering up and what better way than with chocolate.”
The craft bakery’s stores have remained open during the coronavirus pandemic, and have introduced initiatives including a home delivery service covering the north west, a neighbourhood ‘Stop & Park’ scheme and a click-and-collect service.
It has also introduced social distancing measures, such as a two-metre policy for customers.
Greenhalgh’s is holding a social media competition to win a box of six Chocoholic Choice doughnuts. To enter, customers must like both companies’ Facebook pages, as well like and share the competition post.
