Sainsbury’s has rolled out two new baking flavourings, Gin & Tonic and Prosecco, to its stores.
Available now, the 38ml flavourings are priced £1 per bottle and are suitable from vegans. The ingredients include propylene glycol, ethanol and flavourings.
Sainsbury’s recommends bakers add just half a teaspoon of flavouring to frostings, buttercreams or the bake itself to give a “grown-up twist”.
“With the UK a nation of prosecco lovers and gin connoisseurs, sales of our prosecco are up 40% year-on-year and gin 25% year-on-year, with gin having record breaking sales in 2016, selling over one billion bottles,” said a Sainsbury’s spokesperson.
“With the help of Sainsbury’s new baking flavours, it’s now easier than ever to incorporate these favourites into your summer bakes.”
In April 2017, Patisserie Valerie products went on sale at 12 Sainsbury’s sites across the UK.
