SIAB bakery show, which took place recently in Verona, affirmed Italy as one European country where the craft sector, with over 70% of sales, is holding its market share against the supermarkets.

Major exhibitors, including Polin, represented in the UK by Brook Food Equipment, took stands, as did Rondo and first-time exhibitor from the UK, Saturn Spraying Systems, which received enquiries from 21 different countries.

A rival show, AB tech expo, took place simultaneously at the new Rho Fiera showground in Milan. Andy Turner of AFE, which represents several Italian machi-nery companies in the UK, said the quality of visitors was high.
