Tameside College bakery student Cameron Potts has been selected for the Hovis Scholarship Award, which enables students to obtain first-hand bakery experience through working with industry professionals.

The Scholarship, created by Rank Hovis, will offer Potts an all expenses-paid learning experience, with the aim of improving his knowledge and providing expertise in a number of disciplines.

He will have the chance to travel around the UK, visiting various bakery institutions including flour mills, testing centres and local independent bakeries, as well as larger chain bakeries.

“Cameron is the second student from the college to win the scholarship award and the entire bakery department are very proud,” commented bakery tutor Lorna Jones.

“We strive to produce quality students, who are confident and skilful, and the fact that external companies are recognising this is a testimony to the standards we continue to achieve.”
