The Foodamentalists will be opening a new gluten-free high street bakery this November.
The producer of gluten- and wheat-free products such as bread mixes and pork pies has told British Baker the new business, to be called The Foodamentalist Gluten-Free Bakery, will be based in a high street location in the Cheshire region.
The new retail bakery and shop will serve a range of its own gluten-free products, as well as those from other suppliers, including vegan ice cream and gluten-free beer.
Stevan Taylor of The Foodmentalists, said: “I originally wanted to open an allergy-free restaurant, but we couldn’t find any premises suitable. I am from Cheshire myself and saw the site where the new bakery will be based come on to the market, and it was too good to turn down. The site has a big bakery facility at the back, so we will run our business from there.”
The Foodamentalists, based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, won a series of accolades at this year’s Free-From Food Awards, including the top prize in the Christmas products category for its Gluten, Wheat and Dairy-Free Frangipane Mince Pies.
The business also received Highly Commended in the Foods Manufacturer for Foodservice category with a Golden Batter Mix, as well as Commended in the Innovative Award and Pies, Flans, Pizzas and One Pot Meals categories for its Brown Bread Mix and Pork, Black Pudding & Caramelised Red Onion Pie.
