Independent doughnut and coffee shop Planet Doughnut has opened a new store in Warrington, Cheshire as part of its expansion plans.
The shop, found at the entrance to the mall from the Old Fish Markets Square, represents Planet Doughnut’s third new site this year.
The firm is set to open at least three more stores next year and expand its wholesale doughnut operation, according to founder and director Duncan McGregor who had previously revealed ambitions to have more than 50 outlets in operation by the end of 2025.
The Warrington site will offer Planet Doughnut’s full range of regular and vegan doughnuts alongside freshly made desserts like waffles and cookie dough as well as coffee from Shrewsbury roastery Iron and Fire. The site will be shared with established UK Asian noodle concept, Chopstix, and will be the second collaboration between the two brands.
Planet Doughnut’s signature turquoise is prominent throughout the Warrington store which has booths for those consumers who wish to enjoy their sweet treats on site.
“Ever since opening in Warrington we have had a great welcome and really gained a loyal following for not only our doughnuts, but our barista-made coffee,” McGregor said.
“We are excited to open this new venture with Sparta Foods who have managed to transform the old Burger King site into an amazing new blended eatery.”
The business was started by McGregor and his wife Samantha in 2017 and has since expanded to nine retail sites (including Chester, Lichfield, Telford and Shrewsbury), a wholesale operation and home delivery offering.
There are more than 100 doughnut flavours on the menu including White Chocolate Biscoff, The Homer (with strawberry icing and sprinkles), Cherry Bakewell and Banoffee Bomb. Select stores also offer oven baked cookie dough in flavours such as Kinder Cookie Dough, Biscoff Bomb Cookie Dough and Blue Velvet.
