British Baker is thrilled to reveal that the celebrity host for the 2024 Baking Industry Awards is DJ and TV presenter Scott Mills.
After 24 years, Scott Mills left Radio 1 to join Radio 2, hosting the 2pm-4pm slot. He previously hosted The Scott Mills Show live every Monday to Thursday as well as the Official Chart every Friday. He also co-hosted Saturday mornings on Radio 5 Live with Chris Stark.
Scott’s Radio 1 show has created some of the most popular radio features ever, from Flirt Divert, Playground Insults, and the world-famous Innuendo Bingo.
In 2021, he launched his podcast Pupdates with dog trainer Steve Mann, and also fronted the hugely successful Official Strictly and Eurovision Calling podcasts.
Scott hosts the Eurovision semi-finals and has also hosted The National Lottery and Points of View, appeared on shows such as Robot Wars, and has made ground-breaking documentaries including the World’s Worst Place to be Gay.
In 2014 Scott appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, the UK’s biggest TV show. Over six weeks, Scott did the foxtrot, the tango, danced the samba, and dressed as a crab.
The Baking Industry Awards take place on Thursday 24 October at the Royal Lancaster in London. The celebratory extravaganza will include a drinks reception, three-course dinner with wine, and the awards ceremony hosted by Scott Mills. Here, he will reveal the winners across 13 categories.
Voice of God
Scott will be joined by India Fisher who will be the Voice of God for the 2024 ceremony, tasked with welcoming people to the stage and keeping things running smoothly.
India is best-known as the queen of breathy hyperbole as the voiceover on Masterchef and Celebrity Masterchef.
An actress first and foremost, she has appeared on Peep Show, Dead Ringers, and Doctors, and her voice has contributed to Radio 4 productions as well as a range of TV ads. However, it’s as the calm yet dramatic voice accompanying the pressurised cooks of Masterchef that she is best known.
