Yorkshire-based manufacturer Regal Food Products Group has purchased a 45,000 sq ft warehouse space in Bradford to help support business growth.
The site, formerly known as FSD Works, was bought from Folding Sliding Doors Ltd for an undisclosed fee.
Regal Foods produces a wide range of predominantly sweet bakery lines under its own label, and it also owns a portfolio of brands including Yorkshire Baking Company, The Cake Emporium, Just Desserts, Apni Bakery, and Love Handmade Cakes, which it acquired in January.
Its products are supplied to over 3,000 retail outlets nationwide including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons supermarkets, while around a fifth of its production is exported to more than 50 countries worldwide. Regal also purchased its first non-food and drink business, Packaging ‘R’ Us, last August to help strengthen its wholesale and foodservice offering.
Employing over 300 people across its six sites in Yorkshire, Regal has grown turnover from £20m in 2020 to £31.8m last year.
“Following our latest acquisition earlier this year, we are really pleased to be bringing this new facility into the Regal group,” commented CEO Younis Chaudhry. “The new addition promises to not only boost operations but play a key part in the development and growth of our business.
“As a company that has the Bradford community close to its heart, the new warehouse facility will create several new jobs, boosting employment in a range of areas of the business,” he added.
The new warehouse building was marketed and sold by property consultancy Eddisons, which is currently helping FSD secure a new site in Bradford.
“We were really pleased to be able to secure a rapid sale for FSD on their Hopbine Lane site,” said Eddisons associate director Matt Jennings. “The freehold industrial market is increasingly robust due to an ongoing lack of supply and there is definitely healthy demand out there for sizeable warehouse space.”
He also expressed that it was “great to see Regal Food Products, another great Bradford company, step in to take this large unit to accommodate the firm’s growth and it’s a really positive sign that Bradford’s economy is doing well”.
