Co-op is expanding its Coronation Street licensed food range with two new baked goods – Roy’s Rolls and The Kabin’s Rhubarb & Custard Cupcakes.

Inspired by the local businesses of the fictional town of Weatherfield, the new products are available in selected Co-op stores now. Roy’s Rolls (named after the café owned by Roy Cropper in the soap) are described as soft, flour topped white rolls. They’re available as a pack of six, priced at £1.15.

The Kabin’s Rhubarb & Custard Cupcakes are sweet rhubarb filled vanilla sponge cakes topped with a rhubarb and custard flavoured frosting. They’re available as a two-pack, priced at £1.25.

The NPD is part of a wider partnership between the brands, which saw Co-op officially open its doors in Weatherfield in April 2018 as one of the largest product placement partnerships on British TV. Now in its sixth year, the store façade is frequently spotted on air along with Co-op branding found throughout on the likes of posters, bags, electric delivery vans, and other assets.

“We’ve had such a great response from customers, colleagues and Coronation Street fans since the launch of the Weatherfield Co-op store in 2018 and we’re excited to continue building on our partnership and our shared sense of community spirit,” said Lois McClure, assistant partnerships manager at Co-op.

“As a convenience retailer, we’re at the heart of local life and it’s always a pleasure to bring more of the cobbles to Co-op – we know this resonates with our customers so it’s great to be involved in providing them with more opportunities to engage closer with such an iconic show.”

The recent launches follow a series of collaborations between the famous street and convenience retailer, including a previous selection of licensed products from Co-op’s food-to-go and ready meal ranges – The Coronation Street Chicken Sandwich and Betty’s Hotpot. Co-op also unveiled a Coronation Street shopping bag to celebrate the soap’s 60th anniversary as well as a themed re-design of Co-op’s 22 fleets, which deliver products to its stores nationwide.
