London-based Ghanaian specialist Uncle John’s Bakery has expanded its range in Morrisons with a hand-plaited loaf and coconut-flavoured snacks.
Twister Bread – described as ideal for tearing, dipping and sharing – and thin biscuits known as Coconut Chin-Chin hit the shelves in 50 Morrisons stores across the country late last month.
It comes just a few months after the bakery first gained listings with the retailer, which saw a four-strong range of products sold in 42 stores. The product range included Sweet Bread, Bofrot – a traditional Ghanaian doughnut – Sponge Cake and Savoury Chin-Chin.
Uncle John’s also looked to expand its customer base by partnering with Deliveroo in May. As a result, customers living within a three-mile radius of the bakery’s Tottenham store on West Green Road are able to have a selection of baked goods delivered direct to their doors.
The business is also gaining national attention as director Samuel Mensah was recently shortlisted in the Entrepreneur Rising Star category of the 2019 Black British Business Awards, which showcases exceptional black talent across a number of industries.
The winners will be announced on 3 October during a ceremony at St Paul’s Leonardo Royal Hotel in London.
