High-protein bread brand Hi-Lo is developing a roll version as its second product to market.
The Hi-Lo loaf was introduced to around 200 Sainsbury’s stores two months ago and could be rolled out across more outlets. Sales are ‘steadily increasing’ and the company has received customer requests from around the country for Hi-Lo to be available in their local stores.
The product has been advertised in Sainsbury’s magazine and has generated a lot of interest through its website.
“Hi-Lo is seeing significant growth as the message spreads about the product,” said a spokesperson. “We are passing customer feedback to Sainsbury’s and working with it to see if we can get Hi-Lo into more stores. We have had interest from other supermarkets and foodservice suppliers and are actively discussing further roll-out.
“We are looking at range extensions – an obvious extension for us would be a Hi-Lo bread roll."
International potential
"In terms of the wider high-protein, low-carb market, one of our directors is currently in Australia investigating the market there, where a range of low-carb and higher-protein products have been launched in supermarkets.”
The roll version is going through product development and will be ready to show to customers within the next few weeks.
