Lidl has revealed that 94% of its UK stores now have an in-store bakery (ISB).
The discount retailer said it plans for all 600 of its UK stores to have an ISB by the beginning of May 2014, subject to a handful undergoing construction or refurbishment works.
A spokesperson for Lidl was unable to confirm plans for new bakery lines as yet, but revealed it had recently introduced an almond croissant and chocolate twist to the range.
In January last year, British Baker reported that the German retailer had installed ISBs in 340 of its UK stores, in response to customers’ increasing focus on fresh food.
