Pladis has extended the McVitie’s line-up with two new products.
Rolling out now to Asda and discount retailers, McVitie’s Tartlets are priced at 75p for a 100g pack and are available in two flavours, chocolate and raspberry. Each Tartlet features a crumbly biscuit base filled with cream and topped with either milk chocolate or raspberry yoghurt.
Pladis believes the new products will tap shopper demand for value groceries and will drive higher volume sales for retailers. It said the colourful packaging, which it described as featuring playful graphics and food cues, meant Tartlets would have strong standout on shelf.
“With our new McVitie’s Tartlets, we’re helping biscuit-loving Brits enjoy McVitie’s at a more affordable price point,” said Pladis UK&I chief marketing officer Aslı Özen Turhan.
“By launching a new treat which aligns with Brits’ snacking priorities, we’re extending appeal among existing McVitie’s fans and providing greater choice across the McVitie’s range. This is particularly important at a time when great value is right at the top of households’ shopping lists.”
The roll-out of Tartlets is the latest in a series of Pladis launches in the past few weeks.
This has included the extension of children’s biscuit brand McVitie’s BN into the cake aisle with the launch of mini rolls. Available in two flavours, raspberry and chocolate, the cakes comprise a light vanilla sponge filled with flavoured cream and are covered in chocolate. Each mini roll weighs in at 100 calories and they are sold individually wrapped in a pack of five (rsp: £1).
Pladis also unveiled a new range of snack bars targeted at younger health-conscious consumers. Launched under the Go Ahead brand, the Wholistic line-up comprises nut butter-filled snack bars containing ingredients such as nuts, dried raspberry pieces, roasted cocoa nibs and date paste that are cold-pressed. The 40g non-HFSS bars launched into Sainsbury’s Local, WH Smith, Amazon and Ocado with a recommended price of £1.69 to £1.95 in two variants: Peanut, Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt; and Almond & Raspberry.
