The founders of London-based Primrose Bakery are parting ways after nine years.
Lisa Thomas, who co-founded the bakery with Martha Swift, is moving on to pursue different projects.
The pair founded the business in October 2004 in their home kitchens, before opening their first shop in Primrose Hill, north-west London, in 2006. A second bakery followed in Covent Garden, central London, in 2008.
Together they have produced three baking books: Cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery, The Primrose Bakery Book and the recently launched Primrose Bakery Celebrations. An app, The Primrose Bakery, £2.49 (iTunes) has also been designed by the pair.
In a statement Thomas said: “After co-founding Primrose Bakery nine years ago, I have decided to leave the wonderful world of cupcakes in the capable hands of my partner Martha. After gaining much knowledge, enjoyment and satisfaction from being one half of the bakery to date, I now wish to pursue new projects.”
Speaking to British Baker, Swift said she was very excited about taking on the change which will “happen officially in the next week or so”.
She is currently writing a fourth book, which will focus on Christmas, due to be launched in October next year, as well as looking at potentially opening a third bakery in London. A location and date are yet to be set.
