Nostalgia reigns supreme in the Waitrose summer range for 2026, with Scotch egg sandwiches and coronation chicken quiches among the new bakery items to be rolled out.
Much of the innovation leans savoury, with a big focus on food-to-go in the form of sandwiches and wraps – some of which are inspired by the 80s-themed Disney+ show Rivals – and a focus on items suitable for picnics. There are a few sweet spots though, including lemon profiteroles and a decadent secret centre strawberry dessert.

These soft and spicy flatbreads are ideal for consumers looking to add some spice to their summer. They feature a fiery mix of Kashmiri chilli, turmeric, cumin and fennel.

A curry and sides all wrapped up in one package – that’s what this food-to-go wrap promises. One half sees a wheat tortilla filled with cooked chicken marinated in butter sauce with pickled slaw, while the other sees a spinach tortilla wrap filled with onion bhaji with mint yogurt dressing.

Described as a nostalgic nod to the kind of indulgent fillings that once dominated 80s buffets and power lunch plates, this sandwich is part of a range launched to celebrate the second season of Rivals hitting Disney+. It sees layers seasoned egg mayonnaise with crumbled Scotch egg, a sweet hit of chilli jam and fresh spinach, all tucked into hearty eight-grain bread.
