Julian Lewis has replaced Dan Oakley as the new head of Puratos’ UK and Ireland operations.

Last September, Dan Oakley, former managing director, took up the new role of group retail channel director at the company’s headquarters in Belgium, and has previously worked at food production companies Greencore and Cargill.

Lewis, previously Puratos UK’s sales director, has moved into the position of UK managing director. Prior to working at Puratos, he worked at Cadbury Trebor Basset, PZ Cussons and L’Oreal.

This month Puratos also revealed plans to build a new global research and development centre in Belgium, due to open in the summer of 2014. The facility will include a food technology laboratory, a baked products laboratory and an analytical laboratory, which will be open to the company’s global research and development, as well as research partners such as universities.

Filip Arnaut, research and development director of the group’s research and services lab, said: “R&D is the driving force behind our partnership with our customers around the globe. It is how Puratos’ long-term vision is translated into products and solutions to help our customers innovate and differentiate more in the future.”
