Cheshire-based bakery Frank Roberts & Sons has invested in a new multi-million-pound bakery to produce its branded Roberts Bakery bread.
According to FoodManufacture.co.uk, British Baker’s sister title, the bakery can make 7,000 loaves an hour and is highly automated- employing fewer than 10 workers per shift.
The site also said the 3,000m2 bakery, located at the bread firm’s Rudheath headquarters in Northwich, Cheshire, contained a range of eco-friendly features such as low energy meters.
The planning and design of the facility was carried out by Lorien Engineering Solutions, as part of a series of investment projects the business has made over the past six years.
The bakery rebranded its range of white bread under the tag line ‘soft and fluffy’ in February this year, with the launch of its first TV advertisement.
