Bakery supplier St Pierre Groupe has revealed Sarah Boddy as its new managing director.
She steps up to take the leadership role after spending the past year as head of commercial for both the US and UK sides of the business.
Boddy replaces David Wagstaff, who was appointed MD of the Didsbury-headquartered company 12 months ago, shortly after it was acquired by international bakery giant Grupo Bimbo. He had also been a member of its board since August 2020, leading its US operation.
“After three years with the company, David Wagstaff is moving on to new ventures,” said a spokesperson for St Pierre Groupe.
Meanwhile, in her capacity as commercial director, Boddy was said to have been working ”with remarkable impact” to strengthen and expand St Pierre’s business. “Her proven success with St Pierre and in-depth knowledge of the business made Sarah a compelling choice for the managing director role,” added the spokesperson.
Boddy has over 25 years of experience in the food industry, having previously been CEO of plant-based goods marketplace The Vegan Kind, based in Glasgow. She also held various senior positions at UK pet food manufacturer MPM Products.
“It’s a fantastically exciting time for the business, our brands and our team and I’m looking forward to leading the company on as we continue to grow our share in new and existing markets as a premium, authentic brioche brand,” commented Boddy.
“We will continue to excel in bakery, leading the category and disrupting traditional retail models and merchandising to win big across the UK, North America and new markets on the horizon.”
St Pierre Groupe produces bakery brands St Pierre, Baker Street, and Paul Hollywood. The company’s annual results for 2022 reported UK sales had risen by a fifth compared to the previous year, up from £54.4m to £65.5m.
Brioche specialist St Pierre recently expanded its product range to launch two varieties of Belgian waffles at Asda stores nationwide.
