Posh handmade puddings from Australia are vying for space on British Christmas tables this year.

Pudding Lane boasts that it does not use any automated processes, production lines, or electric steam ovens to make its Classic Christmas pudding, Date & Toffee Log or Australian Macadamia Nuts and Barossa Valley Brandy Pudding.

The company combines ingredients by hand, puts the mixture into lined boiling cloths and boils in gas-fired coppers before they are hung on a line to age and mature. They are then dressed in plain cotton fabric to sell.

Pudding Lane uses only locally sourced ingredients to produce its Christmas puddings, made to an inherited prize-winning family recipe, in order to minimise its impact on the environment. The fruit, sugar, eggs, butter, flour, breadcrumbs and spices used all come from the country, with the brandy, matured in American oak, from the Barossa Valley wine region of South Australia.
