Home-based bakery Blueberry Hill Cakes has become a new supplier to Harrods, with a range of its heart-shaped Valentine’s biscuits now on the shelves of the upmarket retailer.

Ella Fletcher, co-owner, Blueberry Hill Cakes, told British Baker that the deal came about through the company’s membership of Food Lovers Britain. “Henrietta Green, who runs Food Lovers Britain, had a contact at Harrods and they were looking for a new biscuit supplier, and put us in touch.”

Fletcher said the bakery has been working with Harrods since October and, so far, has delivered around 250 units of the biscuits in time for Valentine’s Day. The range includes three varieties of heart-shaped biscuits: vanilla with a strawberry and champagne jam filling; lemon with a lemon curd filling; and chocolate with a marshmallow filling, as well as a jam jar full of mini heart biscuits, which are made up of the three flavours.

She said she hoped this deal would lead to further ones for seasonal bakery products, such as for Easter and the Diamond Jubilee.

Blueberry Hill Cakes was established last year and specialises in mail-order afternoon tea packages. It also makes bespoke cakes for individuals, and currently supplies a café in Notting Hill.

The business is currently home-based, but Fletcher said it was in the process of acquiring some kitchen space to accommodate its growing sales.
