A Belfast bakery has closed down less than two years after moving to a new 16,000sq ft factory, which was part-funded with government money.
Co Antrim-based Miller’s Bakery, which supplied retailers with speciality breads, was forced to close earlier this month with the loss of 42 jobs. In a statement, owners Anne and Martin Millar blamed the failure on "difficult trading conditions".
The company, which made hand-griddled soda farls, crusty Belfast baps and focaccia, moved to purpose-built premises in 2008 with almost £240,000 of support from Invest NI. Around £180,000 of this had been paid to the firm.
