Finsbury Food Group has expanded its Little Big Cake range with the launch of a strawberry matcha flavoured cake.
Called ‘I Like You Berry Matcha’, the four-layer, five-inch diameter cake has a narrower profile inspired by the shape of a matcha take-away cup. It features alternating vanilla and pink sponge, and is layered with strawberry jam as well as matcha, white chocolate, and strawberry frosting, finished with a dusting of matcha powder.
Finsbury said each layer has been designed to bring something different, allowing the strawberry, matcha, vanilla, and white chocolate flavour profiles to shine through individually before coming together in every slice.
Landing in Tesco stores nationwide from 31 August, the cake weighs 970g, serves up to 12 people, and has a RRP of £16.
It’s inspired by matcha lattes which have been taking coffee shops and social media feeds by storm, specifically targeting Millennials and Gen Z consumers. It can also fill a gap for consumers who may have outgrown traditional character cakes but still want something colourful, contemporary and worth sharing on social media.

“Matcha is no longer a niche ingredient,” said Ross Lowrey-Heywood, innovation development manager at Finsbury Food Group. “It has become one of the biggest coffee shop trends of the moment, embraced for its flavour, colour, ritual and unmistakable aesthetic. Coffee shops have been leaning into cake for some time, so it felt only right that cake should lean into matcha.
“With this cake, we wanted the individual flavours and colours to stand out. It’s vibrant, playful and completely different from anything else in the supermarket cake aisle.”
Finsbury first unveiled its Little Big Cake brand in January 2026, kicking things off with a red velvet bento cake featuring one big cake which serves eight plus four cupcakes. It was inspired by cake bento boxes which rose to popularity in South Korea and then online. A ‘One in a Millionaire’s’ flavour was also added to the line-up, embracing chocolate, caramel, and caramelised biscuit flavours.
Kimberley Curtis, brand manager at Finsbury Food Group said the Little Big Cake range gives the manufacturer the “freedom to look at what’s happening across food culture and turn those trends into something that’s never been done before”.
