If you want to make a Christmas cake, make it a showstopper centrepiece for the table- no-one really wants to buy the traditional Christmas cake any more.

Popular options are things like a Gingerbread house, or you could make something like a snowman chocolate cake or a meringue based cake, anything a bit different. Christmas cupcakes are also popular.

There are so many other things to eat at Christmas, people are not so keen on the traditional cake anymore and they don’t want to pay for one that has been made to order.

At Christmas you get people who want to make their own and it’s easy to do so- you can buy ingredients bags with everything you need to make the cake apart from the eggs from the supermarket. Or you can buy a cheap readymade Christmas cake in the supermarket.

A novelty cake is a far better bet at Christmas if you want to bake something special
