Welsh bakery Henllans is planning expansion to meet product demand across the UK and US.

The company own three sites in Denbigh – one is a bakery, one is used for storage and will be converted into a second bakery and the third is a plot that can be used as seen fit. There is not yet a time scale attached to the conversion, but director Ed Moore told British Baker he hoped it would happen soon.

The company supplies around 800 customers in the UK, a growing number in the US, has just started supplying the Middle East and is in talks with a couple of airlines to supply inflight cakes.

“We have run out of space at the bakery and will hopefully convert another plot soon,” said Moore.

“We are producing really good-quality products and have been doing trade shows. I was in Dubai recently and New York later this month and the demand is there for good-quality British products.”

The company’s best-seller is its fruit cake, made with a traditional Welsh recipe.
