Judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden

The hunt is on for contestants for the next series of Bake Off: The Professionals.

Now in its tenth year, the show sees professional pastry chefs battle it out in a series of challenges to prove their culinary prowess. It is judged by Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden.

The programme is looking for teams of two people, with one member being the captain. Team members don’t need to work at the same establishment but must have a real passion for pastry, according to Love Productions which produces the show.

Love Productions added that applicants can come from any part of the industry – be it a five-star hotel, high-end patisserie or individually run venture. It noted it was keen to celebrate diversity and up-and-coming talent within the industry and is delighted to offer the opportunity to some of the country’s most aspirational pastry chefs.

Applications are open now and interested teams can apply via the website www.applyforbotp.co.uk. The deadline for applications is Friday 20 September, although the form asks not to leave it until the closing date stating that ‘the sooner you fill out the form, the better’.

Executive chef Michael Dutnall, who represented The Royal Air Force Club in the 2024 series with teammate Gerol Nulud and made it through to the final, said the “competition isn’t just about testing your baking skills; it teaches you a whole new level of multitasking and teamwork”.

“You push yourself further than you ever thought possible, creating, and imagining the impossible – and then making it a reality. If you’re looking to challenge your craft against the best, enter Bake Off: The Professionals. You won’t be disappointed,” he added.

Emese Patko, who represented Devon restaurant The Pig at Combe in the same series with teammate Abi, said the show allowed her to step out of her comfort zone and push boundaries.

“The entire process was a learning experience and I gained so much confidence, knowledge, and most importantly, friendships with people who share the same beliefs and values as me,” she commented. “The production team and everyone involved in the show are incredibly amazing and caring. They take care of the chefs from day one until the end, and even after the show is finished, they are in touch to see how we are and what we’re up to.”
