Istvan Nadhazi of M’s Bakery in Bournemouth has been crowned overall winner of the Tiptree World Bread Awards.
Nadhazi, who also triumphed in the Real Bread Campaign category, was presented with the accolades, £1,000 and a Tiptree hamper at the ceremony held last night [16 October] at St John’s Church, Hyde Park.
He beat off competition from hundreds of loaves delivered from across the UK by courier, taxi and in person on the morning of the judging at Cathedral Hall, Westminster Cathedral.
“The field was more competitive than ever,” said Stephen Hallam, managing director of Dickinson & Morris and chair of the 90-strong award judging panel, which included Richard Bertinet, Dr John Foster of BBC’s Victorian Bakers and Harry Lomas, executive head chef at Wembley Stadium.
