Sandwich manufacturer and meat producer Cranswick has reported healthy sales growth during the last three months.

The Hull-based meat supplying firm, which operates the Sandwich Factory business, known for producing and supplying a range of sandwich products for the travel, leisure and retail markets, revealed the news today in its latest financial results.

During the company’s third-financial quarter, in the three months to 31 December 2012, Cranswick reported an 8% rise in total sales, with underlying turnover improving by 7%, which the group said was “underpinned by strong volume growth”.

The firm said its new premium pastry manufacturing site, based in Malton, north Yorkshire, is on schedule with the first commercial production due to take place in late spring.

Cranswick decided to focus on growing its pastry-products business following news that it has seen a 6% sales growth within this area during the first half of the financial period last year.

Meanwhile development of its new pastry facility in Malton, North Yorkshire remains on schedule, with first commercial production from the factory expected in late spring 2013.

In a company statement, the board said: “The business has a well-invested asset base, loyal and skilled teams, a great range of products and a strong financial position. The board looks forward positively to the rest of the year and the long-term development of Cranswick.”
