Dawn Foods has expanded its range of concentrated flavour pastes with the introduction of an all-natural Coconut Compound addition.
Hot on the heels of its recently launched seasonal range of finished and part-finished coconut bakery products, the new Coconut Compound flavoured paste can be added to fillings, creams, mousses, toppings and frostings.
Made with real coconut pulp and coconut cream, the new compound is free from preservatives “for a cleaner taste”, according to the company. It joins Dawn’s other flavours in the range including pistachio, pomegranate, lemon, mango, passionfruit, blueberry, cocoa and caramel.
Coconut was used in 40% of new product launches in 2015 and has seen the highest growth rate of all flavours globally in the past three years, according to research carried out by Innova Market Insights & Mintel 2016.
The Coconut Compound is multi-purpose and can be used to create a range of sweet treats, such as coconut cakes, patisserie and desserts. It has a harmonised dosage of 40-60g per 1,000g of cream or batter, which Dawn said made it easier for bakers to calculate recipe quantities and ensure consistency. All Dawn’s compounds have standardised viscosity for easy application.
“The creamy notes of coconut are the perfect accompaniment to classic fruit and chocolate flavours and bakers can achieve great taste with little product needed,” Dawn said in a statement.
