Federation forum to look at bakery skills

The Federation of Bakers’ will focus on skills in the baking industry at its Annual General Meeting in Salford on 7 May.

The AGM will be hosted by journalist Stephanie McGovern, who presents the business news for BBC Breakfast.

The AGM will be followed by a half-day Bakery Skills Forum, featuring a presentation by Justine Fosh – CEO of the Food and Drink National Skills Academy.

Fosh will give an overview of the changes currently faced by the industry and how companies can address them.

A panel session will then look at some of the industry’s challenges and successes in meeting the skills agenda in both the wider food industry and in the bakery sector.

Panellists include Angela Coleshill, director of employment skills and corporate services at FDF, with others to be confirmed shortly.

The AGM, Bakery Skills Forum and lunch will take place in Salford Quays, Manchester.

The day will include a drinks reception and an opportunity for a guided tour of the Lowry Galleries followed by a lunch.

The event will this year be sponsored by AB Mauri, Baker Perkins, LeSaffre and Zeelandia.
