Konditor & Cook extends surplus app to all stores

Cake specialist Konditor & Cook has extended its partnership with surplus food app Too Good To Go to all five of its stores in London.

It follows a successful trial between the two companies which started last summer in Konditor & Cook’s Waterloo store which helped prevent 4,700 portions of baked goods from being thrown away.

Too Good To Go connects food establishments that have unsold food at the end of the day with consumers, who can save a ‘Magic Bag’ of surplus food from going to waste.

Consumers download the app, search for nearby stores with leftover food, which they can then purchase for a reduced price through the app and collect from the store. A Konditor & Cook Magic Bag costs £3

“At Konditor & Cook we spread joy through cake everyday – this means not only creating delicious cakes with the finest ingredients, but also reducing the amount of food going to waste,” said Louise Atkinson, head of marketing at Konditor & Cook.

“Our shops have always strived for this, but by partnering with Too Good To Go we’ve been able to reduce food waste even further. The feedback from customers has been fantastic, and the app has even managed to bring new customers through the door.”

Hayley Conick, UK managing director, Too Good To Go, added: “Cutting food waste is not only a win for the planet, but is helping even more Londoners discover Konditor & Cook’s delicious cakes, whilst generating further revenue for its stores.”
