Wrights extends line-up with new vegan savouries

Wrights Food Group has launched four new vegan savoury products, including a sausage roll.

The lines are launching into foodservice and bakery distribution over this month and July, and have been created by Wright’s in-house development chefs over the past year.

Interest in vegan products shows no sign of slowing down, with Gregg’s vegan sausage roll making national headlines when it was unveiled in January this year and many businesses launching vegan products and brands.

“The latest research from Mintel shows that 27% of Brits plan to buy vegan food this year and we fully expect the trend to further develop over the next two years with a growing number of millennials, in particular, opting for vegan as a lifestyle choice,” said Wrights commercial director Helen Bowyer.

The new range comprises:

  • Vegan Sausage Roll: soy protein blended product in puff pastry with a vegan glaze
  • Red Thai Slice: puff pastry slice with butternut squash, green beans, carrots and onions
  • Moroccan-Style Tomato & Chickpea Pie: sweet potato, cumin seed, coriander, onion, apricot and orange
  • Spicy Potato & Cauliflower Pie: described as “a must” for fans of Indian dish aloo gobi, with garam masala and cumin.

“In developing these vegan products we have talked to our customers and carried out extensive panelling in order to ensure they deliver the same great quality tastes and textures as our core savoury range,” added Bowyer.
