A fortnight for food

British Food Fortnight will take place from 19 September to 4 October 2009, and will once again be celebrating the diverse and delicious range of food that Britain produces. Firms such as Macphie of Glenbervie are running promotions of British bakery items to encourage more British food on menus. The major supermarkets will also be running special British promotions. WH Smith deal

Dorset Cereals is now supplying its cereal bars to branches of WH Smith. Consumers will be able to pick up the range at stores in airports and stations across the country. The bars, launched earlier this year, will be Berries & Cherries, and Fruit, Nuts & Seeds varieties.

Hovis is tracked

Premier Foods is to integrate a tracking system in its Hovis bread division in order to improve its SAP (Systems, Applications and Products) platform. The Zetes tracing system will automatically identify goods by using mobile devices and bar codes connected directly to the SAP platform, reported cio.co.uk. Five hundred bar code reading devices will track goods through the entire bread production process and into distribution.
